Martha Rasmussen is a Danish athlete, who competes in hurdles. She is a European U20 Championships Bronze medalist, as well as a four-time national champion and two-time national indoor champion.
Martha Rasmussen was born on July 10, 2002. She started in sports as a kid, initially in dancing, but later turned to athletics. After years of trying in different events, she found he passion in sprints and hurdles, specializing in 400m hurdles.
Martha Rasmussen started her competitive athletics career in 2016. She took part in the Copenhagen Danish U16 Championships in the high jump event and earned the bronze. In the next season, she competed at the Hvidovre Danish U16 Championships, earning bronze in the 200m and high jump.
In 2018, Martha Rasmussen had a quite busy season, competing in various of events and already started in hurdles. She debuted at the Odense Danish Championships, winning her first national title in the 400m hurdles. In the same event, she also earned the gold at the Copenhagen Danish Club Championships, where also earned the silver in 400m. At the Goteborg Varldsungdomsspelen Martha Rasmussen earned the silver in 400m, while at the Copenhagen Nordic U20 Match earned the bronze in 4x400m. Meanwhile, she debuted in the combined event, earning the heptathlon silver at the Dilbeek Flanders Cup U18 Combined Events.
Martha Rasmussen earned another national title in 2019. She triumphed with 400m gold and 4x200m relay gold at the Skive Danish Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, she won the 400m, 60m hurdles, and high jump silver medals at the Skive Danish U18 Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Martha Rasmussen made a fantastic performance in 400m hurdles, winning the gold medals at the Odense Danish Club Championships, Copenhagen Open, Kristiansand Nordic U20 Match, and Odense DT finale, while in 400m earned the gold at the Aalborg DTU finale. She competed also at the Baku 15th European Youth Olympic Festival, finishing 8th in the 400m hurdles.
In 2020, Martha Rasmussen started with the 4x200m relay gold and 400m silver at the Odense Danish Indoor Championships, but continued with great performance at the Indoor Track & Field Vienna, winning the 400m gold and 200m silver, as well as the 400m gold at the Skive Danish U20 Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Martha Rasmussen earned the 400m hurdles gold and 400m bronze at the Kobenhavn Danish Championships, but also finished 6th at the prestigious Goteborg Friidrott GP in 400m hurdles.
Martha Rasmussen made her biggest international achievement in 2021, winning the 400m hurdles bronze at the Tallinn European Athletics U20 Championships. In the same event, she competed at the Nairobi World Athletics U20 Championships but failed to overcome the heats. Meanwhile, she earned 400m hurdles gold medals at the Odense Danish Championships, Karlstad GP, Oordegem IFAM Meeting, and Mannheim 27. Bauhaus Juniorengala, as well as the silver at the ATLETICAGENEVE and the bronze at the Copenhagen Athletics Games. At the Odense Danish Championships, she also won the bronze in 400m, while at the Randers Danish Indoor Championships won the silver in 400m and bronze in 200m.
In 2022, Martha Rasmussen turned to competing entirely in her special events 400m and 400m hurdles. In 400m hurdles, she earned the gold at the Copenhagen Open and Hvidovre Danish U23 Championships, the silver at the Meeting National a theme Quatrache de Tarare, Aalborg Danish Championships, Odense DM Hold, Malmo Nordic Baltic U23 Championships, as well as the bronze at the Meeting National a theme de Saint-Egreve. In 400m, Martha Rasmussen earned the gold at the Hvidovre Danish U23 Championships and the bronze at the Aalborg Danish Championships. Meanwhile, she competed at the Dromia International Sprint and Relays Meeting in the 4x400m relay, earning the bronze with the Danish team.
In 2023, Martha Rasmussen won another national title at the Aalborg Danish Championships in 400m hurdles. In the same event she also competed at the Espoo European Athletics U23 Championships and Chengdu FISU World University Games, but failed to reach the finals in both. Meanwhile, she earned the 400m hurdles bronze at the Budapest Hungarian GP Series and the silver at the Wetzlar PUMA fast arms. She took part in the Copenhagen Nordic Senior Championships, earning the bronze medals in 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay. Martha Rasmussen took part in the prestigious Oslo Bislett Games but finished only 7th in the 4x400m relay.
