The American tennis player Danielle Collins won the title at WTA 500 Silicon Valley Classic in San Jose, California. In the final match, she won versus Russian player Daria Kasatkina with 2-1 (6:3, 7:6, 6:1). This is the second WTA title for the 27-year-old American, who won her first one also this year at WTA 250 Palermo Open.
The match started equally for both players, who won their first serving games easily. The first break came in the eighth game of the first set when Danielle Collins broke the service of Daria Kasatkina on zero. Thus the American served for the set and won on zero.
The second set started again equally. Daria Kasatkina won her first serving game on zero, but Danielle Collins also won her game. However, in the third game, the Russian tennis player was broken again and Danielle Collins took a lead. Everything was moving game-for-game and the match was looking to finish soon, as the result went 5:4 and the American girl was serving for the match. However, Daria Kasatkina made a break and turned the set into a tiebreak, which she won by 12-10.
The third set was with total domination of Danielle Collins. She took an advantage of 2:0 after an early break. Daria Kasatkina returned the break quickly, but that was not enough, as Danielle Collins was unstoppable and won the next four games (two of them on zero) and won the set with 6:1.
Danielle Collins had hit 43 winners, compared to seven for her opponent, Daria Kasatkina.
