Danielle Collins defeated Martina Trevisan to qualify for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 San Diego Open. The American player needed less than an hour and a half to overcome the resistance of the Italian by 2-0 (6:2, 6:4).

The match started perfectly for Danielle Collins, who won the first five games and took a lead of 5:0 with two breaks ahead. This was quite enough for her to close the set by 6:2, despite that Martina Trevisan returned one of the breaks.

The second set has a total of seven breaks and Danielle Collins succeeded to take one more to win by 6:4.

In the quarter-finals, Danielle Collins will face the winner between the 2nd-seeded Paula Badosa and Louisa Chirico.

The 4th-seeded Jessica Pegula also qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 San Diego Open after defeating Coco Vandeweghe by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1).
