Danielle Collins defeated Alize Cornet and qualified for the semi-finals of the Australian Open 2022. The American tennis player won by 2-0 (7:5, 6:1) for 90 minutes.

The first set started with a service of the American, who won it on 15. Alize Cornet also won easily her first serving game. In the fourth game, however, the French player gave four breakpoints to her opponent and despite the hard resistance and saving three of them, finally Danielle Collins succeeded to break her and took a comfortable lead of 3:1. Both players continue winning their service games and the result went to 5:3 with Danielle Collins serving to win it. However, Alize Cornet succeeded to break her service, remaining in the set. Both won their next service games without a problem and the French player was serving to put the set into a tiebreak. But she was not precise enough and failed. Thus, Danielle Collins won the set by 7:5.
The second set was under the total dominance of Danielle Collins. She won five consecutive games at the beginning of the set, making two breaks of the service of Alize Cornet. At a result of 5:0 everything was clear and she won the set with 6:1.
Danielle Collins qualified for the semifinals of the Australian Open for the second time in her career. In 2019, she also reached the semis of the same tournament but lost to Petra Kvitova with a straight set. Besides that, she also has one quarter-final of the French Open in 2020.
In the semi-finals of the AO 2022, Danielle Collins will face the winner between Iga Swiatek and Kaia Kanepi.
