Eva Hodanova is a Czech volleyball player. She plays as an Outside Hitter for the Czech Extraliga team PVK Olymp Praha. Eva Hodanova is awarded as the Best outside hitter in the Czech Republic for the 2020/2021 season, as well as a gold medalist from the European Golden League in 2019. She won the German Cup and the Czech Cup, as well as bronze from the Women’s Challenge Cup in 2022/2023. She is definitely one of the top Czech volleyball players.
Eva Hodanova was born on December 18, 1993, in Stribro, Czech Republic. She started playing volleyball as a kid and developed her talent at school and the juniors of Lokomotiv Plzen.
In 2012 Eva Hodanova moved to PVK Olymp Praha, where she came to the first team via the juniors. From 2013 to 2015 she was in the cup final three times in a row with the club and was runner-up three times. In 2013, she made her debut for the Czech national team. In the same year, she took part in the World Grand Prix with the team. She played with the Czech Republic at the European Championships in Germany and Switzerland and was eliminated as a group runner-up in the first round in the first knockout round. Eva Hodanova was also part of the Czech national team at the 2014 and 2015 Grand Prix. At the European Championships in 2015, her team lost again in the playoff round before the quarterfinals.
In 2016, Eva Hodanova moved to the German Bundesliga to play for Dresdner SC 1898. Right in her first league game on October 22, she suffered a torn cruciate ligament and meniscus, so she was out for the rest of the season. At the beginning of the 2017/2018 season, she made her comeback in October 2017. With Dresdner SC she won the 2017/2018 DVV Cup, while in the Bundesliga playoffs, she reached the semi-finals with the team.
In 2018, Eva Hodanova moved to another German Bundesliga club SC Potsdam. In the semifinals of the 2018/2019 DVV Cup, her new club lost to SSC Palmberg Schwerin. Her team lost the semi-final playoff of the Bundesliga to the same opponent. Her contract was terminated in September 2019 due to a failed medical check-up. She also won the bronze at the European Golden League 2018 with the national team.
Eva Hodanova returned to the Czech Republic to play for the club VK UP Olomouc in 2019. She won the Czech Cup with the team in the 2019/2020 season. After the season she returned to her former club PVK Olymp Praha. With the national team, she won the European Golden League. In 2021 she was signed by the German Bundesliga club Ladies in Black Aachen, where finished 6th in the German Bundesliga.
In 2022, Eva Hodanova moved to league rivals VfB Suhl Lotto Thuringen. With the club, she won the bronze at the Women’s Challenge Cup in 2022/2023 and finished 6th in the German Bundesliga and 5th in the German Cup.
Eva Hodanova returned to her home club PVK Olymp Praha in 2023.
