The 38-year-old Czech tennis player Renata Voracova was detained in the same hotel as men’s number one Novak Djokovic after her Australian visa was revoked.
Renata Voracova is already participating in one of the preparatory tournaments before the Australian Open, Melbourne Summer Set 2, where she and her doubles partner Katarzyna Piter were defeated. The Czech tennis player was detained by the Australian border authorities and taken to the Park Hotel in Carlton, Melbourne.
She is one of at least three other tennis players, who have entered Australia with the same medical records as Novak Djokovic.
Sources familiar with the case confirmed that Renata Voracova will have to leave the country soon, but it is still unclear whether the tennis player intends to appeal the decision. She is believed to have arrived in Australia last month with the same medical exception to the mandatory vaccination rule for the Grand Slam tournament Australian Open, which Novak Djokovic received because she recently contracted KOVID-19.
The men’s world number one is awaiting a hearing in court on Monday, as he is appealing the decision to cancel his visa.
Renata Voracova is a professional Czech tennis player. She has won eleven doubles titles on the WTA Tour and three on WTA 125 tournaments, as well as 15 singles and 56 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On October 11, 2010, she reached a career-high singles ranking of world No 74. On August 21, 2017, she peaked at No 29 in the WTA doubles rankings.
