Conchita Martinez was named the WTA Coach of 2021

Conchita Martinez was named the WTA Coach of 2021. She helped the Spaniard Garbine Muguruza to win three prestigious titles this year. Garbine Muguruza won in Dubai and Chicago before the two-times Grand Slam champion claimed her first season-ending WTA Finals title in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Garbine Muguruza ended the year at WTA No 3, climbing from the world’s No 15 in January. She was the runner-up at the WTA 500 Yarra Valley Classic and WTA 500 Qatar Total Open, reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, as well as the quarter-finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She won the titles at WTA 1000 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and WTA 500 Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, as well as the season-ending WTA Finals in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Conchita Martinez is a Spanish former professional tennis player, who was a former world’s No 2. She was the first Spanish player to win the women’s singles title at Wimbledon. Conchita Martinez also was the singles runner-up at 1998 Australian Open and the 2000 French Open. She finished the season in the Top 10 for nine years. Conchita Martinez won 33 singles and 13 doubles titles during her 18-year career, as well as three Olympic medals. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2020.
