The fourth-seeed Cori Coco Gauff advanced to the second round of the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open tennis tournament with a prize fund of 3.2 million USD. The American tennis player defeated Viktoriya Tomova (Bulgaria) aby 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) in 75 minutes of play.
Viktoriya Tomova opened the match with a break, but then Cori Coco Gauff took ten straight games on her way to a final victory in the first match between them.
The American won her seventh successive WTA Tour win after winning another WTA 1000 event in the Chinese capital Beijing last week to claim her second title of the season and eighth of her career.
For a place in the quarterfinals, she will play against Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine), who advanced after walkover of Amanda Anisimova (USA).
