Club America Women qualified for the final play-off of the Mexico Liga MX Apertura after defeating Guadalajara Chivas Women by 2-1 in the second semi-final played on Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in front of 13,524 fans. With an aggregate score of 4-3, Club America Women eliminated their opponents and will face the reigning champion Tigres UANL Women in a match for the title.
Casandra Montero gave a lead for the 2022 champion Guadalajara Chivas Women in the 69th minute, but Kiana Palacios (76′) and Andrea Pereira (80′) overturned the score in favor of Club America Women and brought the success for their team. The match was equal with both teams having 5 goal attempts each and the footballers of Guadalajara Chivas Women were more accurate in their shots. However, the great saves of the Club America Women’s goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez brought them the victory.
Earlier, Tigres UANL Women achieved a minimum win by 1-0 versus Monterrey Women and with an aggregate score of 1-0 (after a goalless draw in the first match) also qualified for the final.
The final matches between Tigres UANL Women and Club America Women will be played on November 24 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and November 27 at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolas de los Garza.
Club America Women became a Mexico Liga MX Apertura champion in 2018/2019, while their opponents were reigning champions in the 2022/2023 season, but also triumphed in the 2020/2021 season.
