Clara Evans set a new Welsh record in the women’s marathon

The British long-distance runner Clara Evans set a new Welsh record in the women’s marathon. She ran 2:25:04 hours at the Valencia Marathon yesterday. The 30-year-old athlete beat the previous national record of 2:26:14 hours, set by Natasha Cockram last year.

Clara Evans’ time, which is also under the Olympic qualifying standard for Paris 2024, is more than 4 minutes faster than her previous personal best, which was set last year.

Meanwhile, Ethiopians smashed the competition at Valencia Marathon with Worknesh Degefa (Ethiopia) winning the title after took the distance in 2:15:51 hours, while Almaz Ayana and Hiwot Gebrekidan earned the silver and the bronze, respectively.

Clara Evans (born 27 November 1993)[1][2] is an elite British long-distance runner who has represented Great Britain and Wales.
