Clara Burel (France) won the WTA 125 Open P2i Angers Arena Loire title after defeating her compatriot Chloe Paquet by 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 6:2) in a match that lasted 2:09 hours.
Clara Burel succeeded to overturn the match versus quite more experienced opponent, after losing the first set by 3:6. Chloe Paquet started convincingly the second set as well and took a lead of 2:0 and 3:1, but Clara Burel returned in the match and found her style of play, equalizing the score and winning the set by 6:4. The third set was under her total dominance after winning 5 games in a row to lad by 5:0 and did not gave any chance to her opponent.
This is the first title for the 22-year-old French tennis player, although she has two finals in the WTA Tour at the WTA 250 Ladies Open Lausanne in 2023 and 2021, but lost to Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) and Tamara Zidansek (Slovenia), respectively.
She also has one semi-finals this season at the WTA 250 Jasmin Open Monastir and also reached the third round of the US Open.
Clara Burel is a former junior number one. She reached the junior singles final at the Australian Open, the US Open and the Youth Summer Olympics (YOG). Partnering with compatriot Hugo Gaston, she also won the mixed doubles bronze medal at the Youth Summer Olympics.
