China’s volleyball team recorded its third consecutive victory at the Women’s World Cup in the Netherlands and Poland. The Chinese players prevailed over Japan by 3-0 (28:26, 25:17, 29:27) in the third round of the Group D. The Asian derby was played in front of just around 500 spectators in Arnhem this afternoon.
Thus, the Chinese women’s volleyball team is at the top of the temporary ranking in the group with 3 wins and 9 points, the same as Brazil, but with worse indicators. Japan is in 3rd place with 2 wins, 1 loss and 6 points.
In their next matches, China will play versus the Czech Republic, and the Japan will play against Brazil. The matches are on Friday (September 30).
The most effective for China was Li Yanjun with 19 points for the victory. Gong Xiangyu scored another 14 points (2 blocks, 2 aces), while Yuan Xinyue (2 blocks, 1 ace) and Wang Yuanyuan (5 blocks!) contributed 13 points each for the win.
For Team Japan, Arisa Inoue also finished with 19 points. Kotona Hayashi and Mami Yokota finished with 10 and 9 points, respectively.
