Chinese female athlete dominated the women’s rowing events at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. The Chinese team won the gold at women’s four, double sculls, light-weight double sculls, pair, quadruple sculls, and eight finals, as well as the silver at the women’s single sculls final.
The Chinese team won the gold at the women’s four final, overtaking by 5.01 sec Japan and 10.32 sec Vietnam, who earned the silver and bronze, respectively. Hong Kong and India remained 4th and 5th, but out of the honors zone.
In the women’s double sculls final, Chinese team won the gold, finishing in 6:21.54 min, with 4.71 sec ahead of Uzbekistan and 6.29 sec of Indonesia.
In the women’s light-weight double sculls, China finished in 7:06.78 min, far ahead of Uzbekistan by 9.71 sec and Indonesia by 10.86, show shared silver and bronze medals, respectively. Iran and Japan completed the Top 5 but missed the honors.
In the women’s pair rowing event, Chinese team of Tingting wang and Xuan Zhang won the gold ahead of Hong Kong and South Korea, who remained with silver and bronze.
Yunxia Chen, Ling Zhang, Yang Lyu, and Xiaotong Cui, who made the Chinese women’s quadruple sculls team, won he gold after finishing in 6:42.84 min, ahead of Iran, who finished in 6:51.82 min and Vietnam, who finished in 6:54.84 min.
In the women’s rowing eight finals, China again won the gold ahead of Japan and Vietnam.
Anna Prakaten (Uzbekistan) triumphed with the gold at the women’s single sculls final, stopping the Chinese hegemony. The silver went to Ruiqi Liu (China) and the bronze was for Shiho Yonekawa (Japan).
