Chelsea WFC defeated Tottenham Hotspur by 2-1 at the start of the England Women’s Super League

The reigning England Women’s Super League champion Chelsea WFC started the 2023/2023 season with a victory at home versus Tottenham Hotspur by 2-1 (1-0).

Mia Fishel (28′) and Lauren James (51′), both assisted by Niamh Charles, gave advance for Chelsea FC, but Martha Thomas (76′) retuned one goal to keep the intrigue to the very end of the match. However, Zecira Musovic showed great class and did not allowed a second goal in her net, to bring the victory for her team.

West Ham United lost at home to Manchester city by 0-2 (0-0). Lauren Hemp (48′) and Jill Roord (55′), bot assisted by Laia Aleixandri Lopez, scored for the visitors and Chloe Kelly even missed a penalty in the 50th minute. The team of Manchester City finished with a personal less on the ground after Leila Ouahabi received a red card in the 71st minute.

Manchester United WFC achieved a late victory as a visitor to Aston Villa WFC. The first half was goalless, but Rachel Daly gave advance for the hosts in the 77th minute. Lucia Garcia Cordoba equalized in the 80th minute and Rachel Williams in the 90+3rd minute brought the victory to Manchester United.
