Chelsea FC Women upsets Bayern Munich and goes on the final of the UEFA Women Champions League

Chelsea FC Women smashed Bayern Munich by 4-1 and qualified for the final of the UEFA Women Champions League. The first leg match ended with 2-1 for the Germans.

Chelsea FC Women started the match more aggressively, making more dangerous attacks against their opponents. And the result was not late, as Francesca Kirby scored in the 11th minute after a pass from Samantha Kerr. In the 29th minute, however, Bayern’s forward Sarah Zadrazil’s stunning shot made the result 1-1, but Ji So-yun restored the lead. The first half ended with 2-1, which erased the lead of Bayern from the first leg.

The second half started with pressure from Bayern, which made amazing 10 goal attempts during the game. However, Chelsea FC Women kept the possession and made their own attempts.

In the 84th minute, an exquisite free-kick by Jessica Carter was headed by Pernille Harder, making the result 3-1 and giving a comfortable advantage for the British team. Bayern returned with strong pressure and the match was expected to be played in front of Chelsea’s net.

However, in the extra time, Francesca Kirby scored into an empty net to seal the victory. She ran half the length of the pitch to ensure Chelsea’s progress in a dramatic finish to an astonishing game at Kingsmeadow.
