Another athlete will miss the Olympics in Paris due to injury. The British long-distance runner Charlotte Purdue withdrew from the women’s marathon due to an ankle injury.

Charlotte Purdue, 33, was replaced by Clara Evans for the marathon, which will take place on the last day of the Games – August 11.

Charlotte Purdue became the second fastest British woman in the marathon behind Paula Jane Radcliffe after clocking 2:22:17 at the Berlin Marathon last year.

Welsh athlete Clara Evans, who is 30 years old, will make her Olympic debut. She will join Calli Hauger-Thackery and Rose Harvey for the women’s marathon on August 11.
