Former WTA number one Caroline Wozniacki says she is exactly where she wanted to be and is completely satisfied with her performance at the US Open.
The Danish tennis player crashed out in the fourth round of the tournament after a three-set loss to the 6th-seeded Cori Coco Gauff (USA), but it was her first Grand Slam appearance since 2019. In her three wins in New York, Caroline Wozniacki has defeated the 11th-seeded and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic), as well as 2021 Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady (USA).
“Participating here, as well as in the Montreal and Cincinnati tournaments, I wanted to check exactly where I am, especially physically. I think I am exactly where I want to be. There are still things to work on and that to improve. But my overall assessment is very positive”, said Caroline Wozniacki in an interview.
The Danish tennis player revealed that she will not play any more tournaments until the end of this year and will focus on training, with her big goal being a breakthrough at the Australian Open, which she won in 2018.
“I think on any given day I can still beat any other tennis player. There are enough positives that I would take with me. I’m still looking for my form. I know what to do on the practice court and I’m excited that next year I can playing in more tournaments and in more matches”, concluded Caroline Wozniacki.
