Caroline Garcia survived in a 3-set battle versus Ana Bogdan at the WTA 1000 Rome Open

The 5th-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) survived in a 3-set battle versus Ana Bogdan (Romania) and finally won by 2-1 (6:4, 3:6, 7:5) in 2:27 hours of play at the second round of the WTA 1000 Rome Open.

Caroline Garcia won the first set after two breaks, but lost the second set after a turnover by Ana Bogdan. The decisive third set was running in favor of the Hungarian tennis player, who even served for the match in the 10th game, but Caroline Garcia succeeded to make a turnover and finally with two late breaks won the match.

In the next round, Caroline Garcia will face Camila Osorio (Colombia), who defeated Petra Martic (Croatia) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).

Anastasia Potapova (Russia) also advanced to the third round after defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4), while Veronika Kudermetova (Russia) eliminated Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (Spain) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:2).

Madison Keys (USA) also advanced to the next round after a victory versus Magdalena Frech (Poland) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2), while Qinwen Zheng (China) defeated Alize Cornet (France) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:6) and Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) eliminated Elena Gabriela Ruse (Romania) after 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).
