Caroline Garcia qualified for the final of the WTA 250 Abierto GNP Seguros tennis tournament in Monterrey

The top-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) qualified for the final of the WTA 250 Abierto GNP Seguros tennis tournament in Monterrey (Mexico) with a prize fund of 259,303 USD.

The French tennis player defeated the 4th-seeded Elise Mertens (Belgium) with 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) in 1:43 hours to reach her second final match since the start of the season. Since the beginning of the competition, she has not lost a set.

“It was very intense. Every point was extremely important from the first game of the match. We had a lot of break points to save both of them”, said Caroline Garcia, who reached the victory with two breaks.

In the final, the French tennis player will play against 3rd-seeded Donna Vekic (Croatia), who eliminated the 5th-seeded Zhu Lin (China) with 2-0 (7:5, 6:2) in 91 minutes.

Caroline Garcia will play in the final of the WTA 250 Abierto GNP Seguros tennis tournament in Monterrey for the second time in eight years. She has five wins against Donna Vekic in nine matches between the two so far. The French tennis player will be looking for her 12th WTA trophy in her career, and the Croatian – her fourth.
