Caroline Garcia had a great start at the WTA Finals Fort Worth

French tennis player Caroline Garcia also had a great start at the WTA Finals Fort Worth. She world’s No 6 defeated the American Cori “Coco” Gauff with 2-0 (6:4, 6:3) in 79 minutes.

Caroline Garcia made up for an early break and got a turnaround in the first set against the 18-year-old American. She finally closed the set at 6:4.

In the second set, the French tennis player led 5:2 and it proved to be decisive, closing at 6:3 and winning the match.

“The most important thing today was not to lose faith and to stay focused in the important moments. In every match, the start is very important. I had a chance to win the first game, but I made a breakthrough and I told myself that this is not good. But I’m glad I stayed calm, I quickly returned the break and after that things started to get better”, commented Caroline Garcia.

In the next match, she will face Iga Swiatek, while Cori “Coco” Gauff will play versus Daria Kasatkina.
