The fourth-seeded French tennis player prevailed over US Open 2021 finalist Leylah Annie Fernandez by 2-0 (7:6, 7:5) after nearly two hours of play and reached this stage in Melbourne for the fifth time in her career.
Caroline Garcia showed character in the key moments of the match, serving 11 aces and was able to take a two-set victory. The Frenchwoman was trailing 2-5 in the tiebreak of the first set, but found the strength to turn it around to 7-5 and took the lead.

The next opponent of the French tennis player will be the German Laura Siegemund, who prevailed over the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu in three sets – 2-1 (5:7, 7:5, 6:3).
