Canada qualified for the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup after achieving a second win in their group. The Canadian women defeated Poland, who are missing their star Iga Swiatek for the competition, by 3-0 and after two wins advanced to the next phase of the tournament.
Marina Stakusic gave a lead to the Team Canada after overturned the match versus Magdalena Frech to 2-1 (4:6, 7:5, 6:3). The Polish player won the first set and was leading in the second by 4:2, but the 18-year-old Canadian player Marina Stakusic succeeded to equalize to 4:4 and to close the set at 7:5. In the third set, as early break for Marina Stakusic gave her confidence and although received a break, she succeeded to make another one and won the match.
In the second singles match, Leylah Fernandez defeated Magda Linette by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) and guaranteed the win for Team Canada. In doubles, Eugenie Bouchard and Gabriela Dabrowski made the victory of the Canadian players flawless after defeating Weronika Falkowska and Katarzyna Kawa by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3).
