Camila Giorgi smashed the 4th-seeded Ons Jabeur to qualify for the quarter-finals in Eastbourne

The Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi smashed the 4th-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) and qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 Rothesay International Eastbourne. The Italian closed the match after 2-0 (6:3, 6:2) in only 73 minutes of play.

The bad first serve of Ons Jabeur and big number of unforced errors were the biggest reason for her defeat. On the other hand, Camila Giorgi was very aggressive on the court and accurate in forehands.

The first set started with plenty of breaks, as both players did not won their serve until 3:3. However, in the 7th game of the set, Camila Giorgi succeeded to win her serve game and made another break to take a lead by 5:3. Thus, she served for the set and won it on her first setpoint.

In the second set, the Italian started with an early break taking a lead of 2:0. Both players won their serve games, but in the 7th game of the set Camila Giorgi made another break and thus closed the set at 6:2.

In the quarter-finals, Camila Giorgi will face Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), who eliminated Harriet Dart (Great Britain) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4). The Latvian player is still undefeated on grass this season after winning the title at the WTA 250 Rothesay Classic Birmingham.

The 5th-seeded Cori Coco Gauff (USA) also advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament after winning her second round match versus Jodie Burrage (UK) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1) in exactly one hour of play. In the next round she will face the 3rd-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA), who eliminated Camila Osorio (Colombia) by 2-1 (6:2, 1:6, 6:3).

The American tennis player Madison Keys is another quarter-finalist of the WTA 500 Rothesay International Eastbourne after defeating Xiyu Wang (China) by 2-0 (6:2, 7:6) and will face Petra Martic (Croatia), who advanced to this stage after retiring of Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil).

The 2nd-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) defeated Ana Bogdan (Romania) and in the next round will face the 9th-seeded Daria Kasatkina (Russia), who eliminated Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (3:6, 6:3, 6:3).
