Camila Giorgi defeated Heather Watson at the start of the WTA 500 Rothesay International Eastbourne

The Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi started her participation at the WTA 500 Rothesay International Eastbourne with a convincing victory over Heather Watson (Great Britain) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) in 1:28 hours.

Italian tennis player took only one break in the first set out of the two opportunities she had and took a lead of 5:3. In the next round, Camila Giorgi will face the 4th-seeded Ons Jabeur (Tunisia), who eliminated Jasmine Paolini (Italy_ at the starting round after 2-0 (6:3, 6:2).

The second-seeded Caroline Garcia (france) also advanced to the second round after defeating Madison Brengle (USA) by 2-0 (6:1, 7:5) and will face Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), who is in great form on grass after winning last week the WTA 250 Rothesay Classic Birmingham and today eliminated Barbora Strycova (Czech republic) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:3).

The 3rd-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA) also did not faced big challenge in the opening round against Qinwen Zheng (China), defeating her by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4), as well as the 5th-seeded American player Cori Coco Gauff, who eliminated her compatriot Bernarda Pera by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2).

Petra Martic (Croatia) defeated Katie Boulter (Great Britain) by 2-0 (6:4, 7:5), Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) eliminated Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (3:6, 6:3, 7:6), and Xiyu Wang (China) won her match versus Rebecca Marino (Canada) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).
