Bulgarian athletics talent Plamena Mitkova made an excellent debut in the Diamond League tournaments. The 19-year-old athlete, who is ranked fourth in the world for the season at 6.97m, finished second in her first appearance on the prestigious circuit in Paris with 6.78m (2.2m/s), which she achieved in her second attempt. Plamena Mitkova made two more successful attempts in the competition – 6.44m (0.0 m/sec) and 6.60m (0.3 m/sec).
The Bulgarian athlete was surpassed only by the world silver medalist from the Roma European Athletics Championships and the Istanbul World Indoor Athletics Championships, Larissa Iapichino (Italy), who won with 6.82m (0.0 m/s).
The American Quanesha Burks won the bronze with 6.73m (0.5 m/s).
The Olympics and reigning European champion Malaika Mihambo (Germany) was seventh with 6.60m (0.6 m/s), and Budapest 2023 world champion Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta (Serbia) was tenth with 6.17m (0.7 m/s).
