American track and field athlete Britton Wilson has an impressive result in the 400m at a college competition in Baton Rouge. The hurdler first set a personal best in the smooth of 49.40 sec in the heats, and in the final recorded a convincing success in 49.13 se, beating Tierra Robinson-Jones (50.54 sec) by more than a second.
It was the fourth time under 50.00 sec for Britton Wilson, who clocked 49.48 sec indoors in March.
An hour after her victory in the 400m, Britton Wilson also won the 400m hurdles with 53.38 sec.
With her achievement in the 400m, the American moved to 17th place in the world rankings all-time, which is better than the 24th position in the 400m hurdles.
Britton Wilson (born 13 November 2000) is an American track and field athlete specializing in the 400m hurdles and 400m. She finished fifth in the 400m hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, her major championship debut. She was the first North American woman to break the 50-second barrier and only the second woman ever under 49.50 sec in the indoor 400m. At the same meet in March 2023, she was part of the mixed nationality women’s team that set the fastest indoor performance in history in the 4x400m relay with 3:21.75 min. At the time, her split of 49.19 sec was the fastest indoor split in world history. Britton Wilson is a two-time individual NCAA Division I champion.
