British boxer Lauren Price won the Olympic gold in the women’s 75kg category

Lauren Price brought Britain the Olympic gold in the Tokyo 2020 boxing tournament after winning the women’s 75kg category.

The Wales-born boxer defeated Li Qian (China) in the final with a 5-0 judge’s vote and total superiority throughout the match. Lauren Price, 27, has won the world, European and Olympic titles, as well as winning the European Games and the British Commonwealth Tournament as a Welsh national.

The Chinese Li Qian was the world champion from Delhi (India) from 2018, but then Lauren Price took away her title and today she beat her in the Olympic final. At the very beginning of the fight, Lauren Price imposed her superiority and with a few left straight secured a lead in points. The Chinese tried to dynamize the fight in the second and third rounds, but had no arguments and finally came to terms with her clear loss.

Nouchka Fontijn (Netherlands) and Zenfira Magomedalieva (Russian Olympic Committee) lost the semifinals and won bronze medals.
