The British high jump athlete Emily Borthwick won her first start this year at the tournament in Karlsruhe (Germany) on January 28. The athlete jumped 1.91 m and took the gold at the Init Indoor Meeting in Karlsruhe, part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour.
Imke Onnen was second with 1.91 m, while the bronze went to Marija Vukovic with 1.88 m. Yuliya Levchenko was fourth with 1.88 m and Mirela Demireva was fifth with 1.84 m.
Emily Borthwick was selected for Great Britain and Northern Ireland team to compete at the 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships, held in Toruń, Poland. She finished third at the 2020 British Championship in the high jump.
The world’s ranking for the year is led by the bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympic Games Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine), who recorded 2.00 m in a tournament in Italy on January 27.
