The former world record holder Brigid Kosgei (Kenya) will take on the Lisbon Half Marathon on her way to her London Marathon comeback. The 30-year-old Kenyan athlete will use the 21km distance on March 17 as preparation for the London Marathon later this spring.
In Lisbon, Brigid Kosgei will start with six other women with personal bests under 68 minutes.
Bosena Mulatie (65:46 min), Tigist Mengistu (66:20 min) and Betty Chepkemoi Kibet (66:37 min) will try to stop Brigid Kosgei, who suffered from an injury last season which saw him withdraw from the London Marathon.
Brigid Jepchirchir Kosgei is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon. She won the 2018 and 2019 Chicago Marathons, the 2019 and 2020 London Marathons and the 2021 Tokyo Marathon. She was the marathon world record holder for women running in a mixed-sex race, with a time of 2:14:04 achieved on October 13, 2019 at the Chicago Marathon.
Brigid Kosgei won the silver medal in the marathon event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
