Tokyo 2020 Olympic marathon silver medalist Brigid Kosgei (Kenya) believes she can win the gold at the Paris Games this summer.
“I am happy to be part of the team. Every athlete’s biggest dream is to wear the national colors and I will do my best to make my country proud of me. This is a great opportunity that cannot be taken for granted. Several brilliant Kenyan athletes deserved to be in the team but were left out. My goal is to bring victory to the nation”, said Brigid Kosgei.
Brigid Kosgei won the 2018 and 2019 Chicago Marathons, the 2019 and 2020 London Marathons and the 2021 Tokyo Marathon. She was the marathon world record holder for women running in a mixed-sex race, with a time of 2:14:04 hours achieved on October 13, 2019 at the Chicago Marathon.
At the 2024 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, she broke the course record in a time of 2:19:15 hours and is considered one of the biggest favorites for winning the gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
