Brazilian footballer Giovana Queiroz complained of “psychological harassment” in Barcelona Femeni

Barcelona’s women’s soccer team striker Giovana Queiroz has accused the club of “psychological harassment” for stopping her from playing for Brazil’s national team.

The Sao Paulo-born footballer lived in the United States before moving to Spain, representing three national teams in her teens. After choosing to represent Brazil’s national team, she expected to be treated “differently” by Barcelona’s leadership.

“I have received hints that playing for Brazil will not have a good effect on my future in the club”, wrote Giovana Queiroz on her Twitter account, adding that she had been exposed to “shameful and humiliating situations”. The 18-year-old footballer informed the management of Barcelona about the psychological harassment but did not specify the names of the people who harassed her. Giovana Queiroz made her debut for Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last year.

Giovana Queiroz Costa, known as Giovana Queiroz, Giovana Costa or simply Gio or Giovana, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a striker for Spanish Primera División club Levante on loan from Barcelona and the Brazil women’s national team. She was born in Brazil and grew up in the United States and Spain.
