Leticia Oro Melo is a Brazilian athlete who competes in track and field. She won the bronze medal in the long jump at the 2022 Eugene World Athletics Championships. Prior, Leticia Oro Melo won the gold at the 2021 South American Championships and the 2022 Brazilian national championships in the long jump. She is one of the most prominent athletes in the country and the future of athletics.
Leticia Oro Melo was born on October 5, 1997, in Joinville, Brazil. She started in athletics as a child and initially was focused on sprints, but in 2012, she entered the list of jumpers at the Santa Catarina state championships. She was the South American U18 and U20 champion.
Leticia Oro Melo achieved her first major success in 2014 winning the gold at the Recife Brazilian U18 Championships and the bronze at the Maringa Brazilian Junior Championships. During the season she won the gold at the Cali South American U18 Championships.
In 2015, Leticia Oro Melo won the bronze at the Edmonton Pan American Junior Championships and the gold at the Cuenca South American Junior Championships with a personal best of 6.17m. Locally, she won the gold at the Sao Bernardo do Campo Brazilian Junior Club Championships and Maringa Torneio FAP, as well as the silver at the Sao Bernardo do Campo Brazilian Junior Championships.
Leticia Oro Melo won the gold at the Porto Alegre Brazilian U20 Championships and Sao Bernardo do Campo Brazilian Junior Club Championships in 2016. During the local Bauru Meeting, she improved her personal best, winning the gold with 6.20m.
In 2017, Leticia Oro Melo won the gold at the Porto Alegre Brazilian U23 Championships in the long jump and triple jump.
The Brazilian athlete continue developing her skills in 2018, smashing the local competition and winning the gold in the long jump at the Porto Alegre Brazilian U23 Championships, Itajaí Regional U23 Championships, and Jaragua Meeting, as well as the silver at the Maringá Brazilian University Games and the bronze at the Cuenca South American U23 Championships. In the triple jump, Leticia Oro Melo won the gold at the Itajai Regional U23 Championships and Cacador Juegos Abiertos De Santa Catarina.
In 2019, Leticia Oro Melo competed at the Brazilian Championships but remained without a medal. She won the gold at the Jaragua Regional Championships.
Leticia Oro Melo won the bronze at the 2020 Brazilian Championships, improving her personal best to 6.39m.
In 2021, the Brazilian athlete won the gold at the Guayaquil South American Championships and the silver at the Brazilian Championships. She won the silver at the Meeting Internacional Cidade de Braganca Paulista and II Meeting Internacional Rumo a Toquio.
In 2022, Leticia Oro Melo won the bronze at the Eugene World Athletics Championships and the gold at the Brazilian Championships. She also earned the gold at the Asuncion South American Games. During the World Athletics championships, she achieved her personal best of 6.89m.
Leticia Oro Melo continues dominating the event in 2023. She won the bronze at the Brazilian Championships and Grande Premio Internacional Brasil Loterias Caixa de Atletismo, as well as the silver at the Internationales LAZ Meeting/Rhede.
