Brazil reached a hard victory over Japan to qualify for the semis of the Women’s Volleyball World Cup

Brazil’s women’s national volleyball team qualified for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, which is being held in Poland and the Netherlands.

The team led by Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes turned around and prevailed over Japan 3-2 (18:25, 18:25, 25:22, 27:25, 15:13) in the third quarter-final of the competition, played in Apeldoorn.

Thus, Brazil enters the battle for the medals for the sixth time, while the Japanese women will not play for any of the honors for the third time in a row. The Japanese women’s national volleyball team last won bronze in 2010 and has three titles.

Brazil has played three finals – 1994, 2006, and 2010 – but failed to win any of them.

The best scorer was Gabriela Guimaraes with 25 points, with 14 points by Carol Gattaz (3 blocks). Ana Carolina da Silva scored 13 points (3 blocks).

For Japan, Kotona Hayashi finished with 21 points (2 aces), Nichika Yamada scored 19 points (7 blocks), but they were not enough for success.

In the battle for a place in the final, the South Americans meets Italy, who eliminated China. The semi-final between them is on October 13 (Thursday), in Apeldoorn.
