Beth Mead has been voted British Sports Personality of the Year

England women’s soccer star Beth Mead has been voted British Sports Personality of the Year in a BBC poll after helping England win the European Women’s Championship. Beth Mead, 27, won the Golden Boot as top scorer at Euro 2022 and was named player of the tournament.

In the 2021/22 season, Beth Mead scored a total of 20 goals in 19 games for England, including 6 goals and 5 assists at Euro 2022.

“I’m speechless! It’s an incredible honor to win this award. I’ll keep saying it, it’s a cliché, but I wouldn’t have done it without these girls, the team that supported me”, said the Arsenal striker.

The Lionesses also won the awards for the Team of the Year and Coach of the Year awards for Sarina Wiegman, who led England Women to their first major title.

“Without this incredible team of players, we could never have performed like this… It was fantastic to work with this team”, said the Dutch specialist.
