Belinda Bencic withdrew from the quarterfinal of the WTA 500 Qatar TotalEnergies Open

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) withdrew from participation before the quarterfinals of the tennis tournament WTA 500 Qatar TotalEnergies Open in Doha with a prize fund of 780,000 USD.

The world’s No 9 Belinda Bencic complained of fatigue, and her opponent Iga Swiatek (Poland) qualified for the semifinals without playing.

The Swiss made a strong start to the season, having won 14 of her first 15 WTA Tour matches of the year, including titles in Adelaide in January and in Abu Dhabi last week.

The top-seeded Iga Swiatek continues her title defense and in the semi-final will face Veronika Kudermetova (Russia), who defeated Cori Coco Gauff (USA) with 2-1 (6:2, 3:6, 6:1).
