Tokyo 2020 Olympics champion Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) will miss the upcoming clay tournaments WTA 1000 Madrid Open and WTA 1000 Rome Open with thigh discomfort but said she hopes to be fully recovered for the French Open.
Belinda Bencic revealed that the problem hampered her run on American soil in Charleston, where she lost to Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur in the final in straight sets.
“I feel discomfort in my thigh, which I also suffered from in the USA, and I need to take a little break to recover and return to 100 percent for Roland Garros”, commented Belinda Bencic on her profile on the social network Instagram. “I will miss the two tournaments, which are very dear to me, but I will be back in a few weeks and I can’t wait to compete again and be in great shape”, added the Swiss tennis player.
Belinda Bencic won one of the tournaments in Adelaide (Australia) in January and in Abu Dhabi (UAE) the following month.
The French Open is coming up from May 28th to June 11th.
