Tokyo 2020 Olympics tennis champion Belinda Bencic qualified for the third round of the WTA 500 Credit One Charleston Open. The Swiss tennis player defeated Katherine Sebov (Canada) by 2-0 (6:0, 6:3) in 62 minutes.
In the next round, Belinda Bencic will face Shelby Rogers (USA), who eliminated her compatriot Caty McNally by 2-1 (6:7, 7:5, 6:1) in a three-hour clash.
The Polish tennis player Magda Linette also had a hard second-round match but took the victory versus Varvara Gracheva (Russia) by 2-1 (6:7, 7:5, 6:4). The match also lasted almost three hours and Magda Linette needed to make a late break in the second set to save the match and succeed to turn over it.
Irina-Camelia Begu (Romania) also advanced to the third round after winning her match versus Sofia Kenin (USA) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:4). In the next round, she will face the top-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA) who needed an hour to defeat Anna Blinkova (Russia) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:0).
