The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Belinda Bencic qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Miami Open after beating the Australian player Daria Saville by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2). The 22nd-seeded Swiss player needed only 69 minutes to close the match and dominated on the court all the time.
Belinda Bencic started the match with an early break and succeeded to register two more by the end of the first set, in which she gave only one game to her opponent. The second set started in the same way with 2 early breaks for the Swiss player, who took a lead of 4:0. Despite the one break returned by Daria Saville, Belinda Bencic closed the set with 6:2 and thus qualified for the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, Belinda Bencic will face the Japanese player Naomi Osaka, who defeated Danielle Collins with 2-0 (6:2, 6:1) in less than an hour.
Belinda Bencic is a Swiss professional tennis player. She has a career-high ranking of No 4 by the Women’s Tennis Association which she achieved in February 2020. Bencic has won five singles titles, including a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and two doubles titles on the WTA Tour.
