Belinda Bencic qualified for the second round of the WTA 500 Ostrava Open

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) qualified for the second round of the WTA 500 Ostrava Open in Czech Republic. The sixth-seeded Swiss tennis player needed more than two and a half hours to break the resistance of former world No 5 Eugenie Bouchard (Canada) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:1, 6:4).

Belinda Bencic squandered an early 4:2 game lead before losing the first set after a tiebreak by 7-9.

She dominated the second set and quickly equalized, and in the third, she again took a 4:2 game lead, and this time she did the necessary to win the match. Thus, Belinda Bencic will face the 2021 Roland Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic), who defeated Shelby Rogers by 2-0 (6:2, 6:2).

In another match, the American Alycia Parks brought an unpleasant surprise for the fans after defeating the Czech player Karolina Pliskova by 2-0 (6:0, 7:6).
