Camille Laus

Camille Laus is a Belgian track and field athlete, who competes in sprints. She ran in the national 4x400m relay, which finished fourth at the Glasgow World Athletics Indoor Championships in 2024 and 5th at the Budapest World Athletics Championships in 2023.

Camille Laus was born on May 23, 1993. She started in athletics as a kid and showed great results as a junior, winning national titles and local events.

Camille Laus started her competitive career in 2009, competing at the Gent Belgian Indoor Championships, where did not overcome the heats in 200m. However, during the season she made a remarkable performance finishing 4th in the 4x100m relay and 5th in 100m at the Tampere 10th European Youth Olympic Festival. Meanwhile, she won the 100m and 200m bronze at the Nivelles LBFA Championships and the 200m gold at the Nivelles Meeting International Lotto Cup.

In 2010, Camille Laus won her first national honor, winning the 200m bronze at the Gent Belgian Indoor Championships, as well as the 60m silver and 200m gold at the Gent Indoor Meeting. She competed also at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships but finished 9th in 400m.

Camille Laus made her best international achievement in 2011, finishing 5th at the Tallinn European Junior Championships in the 4x100m relay. Meanwhile, she earned the 100m silver at the Mannheim Bauhaus Junioren-Gala, as well as 200m silver at the Nivelles Meeting International Lotto Cup, Namur Athletissima, Merksem Antwerp Athletics Gala, and Vilvoorde Belgian Junior Championships.

Camille Laus continued gaining experience in 2012 and improving her results. She finished 5th in the 4x100m relay at the Barcelona IAAF World Junior Championship and 7th in 200m at the Heusden-Zolder KBC Night of Athletics, as well as 6th in 200m at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships. Meanwhile, Camille Laus won the 4x100m relay silver at the Oordegem IFAM Meeting and the 4x100m relay gold at the Mannheim Bauhaus Junioren-Gala.

In 2013, Camille Laus won her first national title, surprisingly winning the long jump gold at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships. During the season, she won the gold at the Oordegem Memorial Léon Buyle and the silver at the Ninove Memorial Geert Rasschaert in the long jump. In the sprints, she finished 7th in 100m and failed in 200m at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships. In 2014, Camille Laus continued competing in sprints and long jump, finishing 4th in the long jump at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships and Ninove Memorial Geert Rasschaer.

In 2015, Camille Laus returned back to sprints and won the 4x400m relay silver at the Herakleion European Athletics Team Championships First League and 4x100m relay gold at the Oordegem IFAM Meeting and Oordegem Putbos Memorial Leon Buyle. At the individual events, she won the 100m gold at the Kortrijk Guldensporenmeeting and finished 4th in 60m at the Gent Belgian Indoor Championships.

Camille Laus continued being one of the top sprinters in Belgium in 2016, winning the 100m and 200m silver medals at the Oordegem Putbos Memorial Leon Buyle, but however, missed earning an individual medal at the national championships, finishing 8th in the 200m and 5th in the 100m at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships.

In 2017, Camille Laus won the 4x100m relay silver and 4x400m relay bronze at the Vaasa European Athletics Team Championships First League. Meanwhile, she won the 400m silver at the Kessel-Lo Meeting voor Mon, as well as the 100m bronze at the Huizingen Flanders Cup and 100m silver at the Bruxelles AG Insurance Urban Memorial Van Damme.

Camille Laus started the 2018 season strongly, winning the 300m silver at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais and triumphed with the title at the 400m Gent Belgian Indoor Championships. She competed in the 4x400m relay at the Berlin European Athletics Championships and finished 4th, but won the gold in the same event at the prestigious Heusden-Zolder KBC Night of Athletics, where earned the silver in 400m individual. At the end of the season, she debuted in the Diamond League, competing in the Bruxelles Memorial van Damme final, where finished 8th.

In 2019, Camille Laus already was the top Belgian sprinter, winning the 400m gold at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships, but also finished 6th at the Sandnes European Athletics Team Championships First League, won the gold at the Oordegem IFAM Meeting and the silver at the Brussels Grand Prix. During the season, she was part of the Belgian team in the 4x400m relay, finishing 5th at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics and 6th at the Glasgow European Indoor Championships, as well as the 4x400m mixed relay, to finish 6th at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics. Camille Laus was part of the Belgian team that finished second in the 4x400m relay at the Yokohama IAAF World Relays.

In 2020, she defended her 400m national title at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships and finished 4th at the Bruxelles AG Memorial Van Damme. Meanwhile, she earned the 300m silver at the KBC Nacht van de Atletiek in Heusden-Zolder and 200m.

Camille Laus made her Olympics debut in 2021, finishing 7th in the 4x400m relay and 5th in the 4x400m mixed relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Although missed the Olympics honor, she won the 4x400m relay silver at the Cluj-Napoca European Athletics Team Championships First League and finished 4th at the Chorzow World Athletics Relays in the 4x400m mixed relay. Individually, she 400m silver at the Louvain-La-Neuve Belgian Indoor Championships and Bruxelles Belgian Championships, as well as the gold at the Guldensporenmeeting in Kortrijk.

In 2022, Camille Laus finished 4th in the 4x400m relay at the Munich European Athletics Championships and 6th in the 4x400m relay at the Eugene World Athletics Championships and Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships. In the 4x400m relay, she triumphed with the gold at the IFAM Oordegem, Meanwhile, she won the 400m gold at the Nivelles Meeting International EAP, the 400m silver at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting, Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor, and Mondeville Meeting, as well as the 400m bronze at the Gentbrugge Belgian Championships. She also won the 200m bronze at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor.

In 2023, Camille Laus won the 600m gold at the Meeting International d’Athletisme de la Province de Liege and the 800m gold at the Brugge Belgian Championships, as well as the 800m gold at the Flanders Cup Vita and Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division. She also competed at the Diamond League’s Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memoria, finishing 10th in 800m. Camille Laus was again part of the Belgian team for the Budapest World Athletics Championships, finishing 5th in the 4x400m relay and 5th in the 4x400m mixed relay at the Budapest World Athletics Championships. Meanwhile, she earned the silver at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division in the 4x400m mixed relay.

Camille Laus started the 2024 season by finishing 4th at the Glasgow World Athletics Indoor Championships in the 4x400m relay, as well as finishing 9th in 800m at the Boston New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
