Beatrice Chebet won 5,000m Diamond League Final title

Paris 2024 Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion Beatrice Chebet (Kenya) gave her rivals no chance in the battle for the 5,000m Diamond trophy. The Kenyan cruised into tonight’s final in Brussels with a new meeting record of 14:09.82 min.

The world record for girls under 20 also fell in this run. Two-time world age champion Medina Eisa (Ethiopia) finished second with a new world record for girls Under 20 – 14:21.89 min. Her compatriot Fotyen Tesfay improved her personal best to third position with 14:28.53 min.

Beatrice Chebet is a Kenyan long-distance runner who is the world record holder in the 10,000m and the gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the 5,000m and 10,000m events, becoming the third woman in history to win both events at the same Olympic games. In 2022, Chebet won gold medals in the 5,000m at the Commonwealth Games, African Championships, and Diamond League, and a silver medal in the 5,000m at the World Championships. She also won gold medals at the 2023 and 2024 World Cross Country Championships.

Beatrice Chebet won gold medals in the 5,000m at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships and the Junior women section of the 2019 World Cross Country Championships.
