The World Athletics Championships 5,000m silver and bronze medalist Beatrice Chebet (Kenya) won the event at the Doha Diamond League with a world best of 14:26.98 min. Ejgayehu Taye (Ethiopia) finished second in 14:29.26 min, while her compatriot Eisa Medina finished third in the 5,000m with 14:34.11 min.
Beatrice Chebet is a Kenyan long-distance runner. In 2022, she won the silver medal in the 5,000m at the World Championships, and became Commonwealth, African and Diamond League champion. She claimed the gold medal for the women’s senior race at the 2023 and 2024 World Cross Country Championships. She took the world U20 title in the 5,000m in 2018 and at the 2019 World Cross Country Championships.
Kenyan long-distance runner and Glasgow World Indoor champion Freweyni Hailu won the Doha Diamond League in 1,500m with 4:00.42 min. She left behind Jessica Hull (Australia) with 4:00.84 min and Nelly Chepchirchir (Kenya) with 4:01.19 min.
