The women football club of Barcelona took a comfortable advantage versus Manchester City after beating them by 3-0 in the first quarter-final play-off of Champions League Women.
The players of Lluis Cortes started the match with pressure. The players of Barcelona felt more comfortable at their own stadium and made plenty of goal attempts. They took the ball more and organized very interesting attacks. In the beginning of the match, Manchester City defenders resisted with a great play of Alex Greenwood and Abby Dahlkemper, while the goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck saved some dangerous shots.
However, in the 35th minute, the Manchester City defense capitulated after Mariona Caldentey passed to Asisat Lamina Oshoala, who scored and opened the result. The first half ended with result of 1-0.
The second half started not much different despite the changes that Manchester City coach Gareth Taylor made. Esme Morgan was substituted by Demi Stokes in an attempt to improve the defense. However, Barcelona continues to have control of the match. In the 55th minute, Mariona Caldentey doubled the result after scoring from a penalty and in the 86th minute, Jenifer Hermoso scored for 3-0.
The match finished with good and comfortable result for Barcelona before the second leg on March 31.
