Barbora Krejcikova won the WTA 500 San Diego Open title

The fourth-seeded Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) won the WTA 500 San Diego Open women’s tournament with a prize pool of 780,637 USD. The Czech tennis player defeated Sofia Kenin (USA) by 2-1 (6:4, 2:6, 6:4) in 2:40 hours of play.

Barbora Krejcikova started hesitantly and conceded two breaks, but still managed to win 6:4. Sofia Kenin gradually found her playing rhythm and managed to take the second set after 6:2. The Czech tennis player made a classy performance and showed strong nerves in the decisive third set. Barbora Krejcikova first repelled four break opportunities at 4:4, and then from the second attempt reached 6:4 in her favor.

Barbora Krejcikova also made a fantastic performance in doubles, wining the title with her partner Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic), defeating the representatives of the hosts Danielle Collins and CoCo Vandeweghe by 2-0 (6:1 and 6:4).

Barbora Krejcikova has a career-high singles ranking of world No 2, achieved on February 28, 2022, and on October 22, 2018, she became world No 1 in doubles. On singles, she is French Open / Roland Garros champion in 2021.
