Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won the women’s doubles title at the US Open 2022

Olympic champions and third-seeded Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic won the women’s doubles title at the US Open 2022 for the first time in their careers.

In the final, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova defeated the American Caty McNally and Taylor Townsend by 2-1 (3:6, 7:5, 6:1) in 2:10 hours.

The Czechs lost the first set, and in the second they were behind by 1:4 before improving their game and making it 4:4. They then broke back for 6:5 and on their serve ended their streak of three games in a row to even the score.

In the third set, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova completely dominated, broke three times the serve of the American double and after 6:1 closed the match.

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won their sixth career Grand Slam title. They also achieved the Career Golden Grand Slam, having triumphed in all four tournaments and the Olympic Games. Earlier in history, sisters Serena Williams and Venus Williams had such an achievement in 2001.

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova have won two Roland Garros titles (2018 and 2021), two Wimbledon titles (2018 and 2022) and one each at the Australian Open and US Open (2022). They also won Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020.
