Australia’s women’s relay swimming team broke the world record in the 4x200m freestyle at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Madison Wilson, Kiah Melverton, Mollie O’Callaghan, and the two-time Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020 Ariarne Titmus swam fantastically and clocked a time of 7:39.29 min.
Thus, they improved by more than a second the world’s record of China, which was set during the Olympic Games in Tokyo a year ago.
The Canadian team finished in second place, and the bronze medals remained for England.
Australian women’s swimming team is performing wonderfully at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Georgia Baker won the Women’s 25km Points Race, Georgia Godwin won the Women’s All-Round Artistic Gymnastics, Kristina Clonan won the Women’s 500m Time Trial, Emma McKeon won the Women’s 50m Freestyle, and Kaylee McKeown won the Women’s 100m Backstroke.
The country is the leader in medals with 31 gold, 20 silver, and 20 bronze awards.
