Eleanor Patterson is an Australian track and field athlete who competes in the high jump. She has a gold medal from the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the 2013 Donetsk World Youth Championships. Eleanor Patterson also took part at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where was fifth in the final. Her personal best is 199 cm in both outdoor and indoor.
Eleanor Patterson was born on May 22, 1996, in Leongatha, Victoria, Australia. She began competing in the high jump as a child. She went to Little Athletics with her friend and fell in love with the sport. She competed in many local events and was runner-up at the national junior (under-20) championships in 2011. She is the joint holder of the world youth best and the outright holder of the Oceanian junior record.
Having qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Eleanor Patterson jumped 195 cm in her Group and therefore qualified for the final, where she managed 196 cm, 8 cm behind the eventual winner, Mariya Lasitskene, ROC. Thus, Eleanor Patterson ended fifth in the final.
In 2021, Eleanor Patterson won the bronze at the Diamond League event Bauhaus-Galan in Stockholm, Sweden with 196 cm, which is her biggest achievement at top-class championships.
Eleanor Patterson had won various medals from many track and field championships. She won the gold medals at the 2020 Canberra Track Classic and the 2020 Sydney Track Classic, as well as the silver at the 2019 Sydney Athletics Grand Prix. She also won several European events, such as the 2019 Morten Games in Dublin, the 2019 Cork City Games, the 2019 Klaverblad International High jump meeting in Zoetermeer, Germany.
