Australia will be with a team of 15 athletes at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade from March 18th to 20th. The team includes the winner of the World Athletics Tour in high jump and leader in the world’s rankings for the season Eleanor Patterson.
The two-time Olympic participant Eleanor Patterson had a successful 2021 and finished fifth at the Tokyo Games. The 25-year-old Australian is leaving for Belgrade as a favorite for the gold medal, after setting a new record for Oceania Indoor earlier this season – 199 cm. With this result, she also topped the world rankings for the season.
“It was a fun attempt to compete indoors. It’s fantastic to start the season indoors with an indoor record and leveling off my personal achievement. It was a good start to the year and my season, so I’m excited about what’s coming”, said Eleanor Patterson.
She has a gold medal from the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the 2013 Donetsk World Youth Championships. Eleanor Patterson also took part at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where was fifth in the final. Her personal best is 199 cm in both outdoor and indoor.
