Aryna Sabalenka vs Ons Jabeur in the second Wimbledon semi-final

The 2nd-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) qualified for the semi-finals of Wimbledon after defeating Madison Keys (USA) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:4) in 1:29 hours.

The Belarusian tennis player recorded two breaks in each of the sets, making total of 17 winners and 14 unforced errors, against 19 winners and 22 unforced errors for her opponent. Thus, Aryna Sabalenka qualified for her third Grand Slam semi-finals for the season, after winning the title of the Australian Open and losing to Karolina Muchova (Czech republic) in the semi-finals of the French Open / Roland Garros.

Her next opponent will be Ons Jabeur (Tunisia), who eliminated the reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:4, 6:1) in 1:55 hours. The brilliant performance of the 6th-seeded Tunisia player made the Kazakhstani champion blocked and out of her skin.

Ons Jabeur’s success makes for a sweet revenge because she lost the final of the same tournament exactly 12 months ago.

The decisive moment in the match was in the middle of the second set, when the score was 4:4. And although the first set was won by Elena Rybakina, after 4:4 Ons Jabeur won eight of the next nine games and put her rival in the role of outsider. Thus, she reached the third semifinal of her career in a Grand Slam tournament. The third set turned into a real recital of the African, who gave only a game to Elena Rybakina and that to reduce to 1:2. The win was followed by a break to zero. At 3:1, she fended off two break opportunities to extend her lead to 4:1. Followed another break for 5:1, which was also the real end of the match. Thus, Ons Jabeur closed the set at 6:2 and qualified for the semi-finals of Wimbledon.
