Aryna Sabalenka qualified for the fourth round of Wimbledon. The 2nd-seeded Belarusian tennis player won easily with 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) against Anna Blinkova (Russia).
The 2021 Wimbledon semi-finalist Aryna Sabalenka recorded five breaks in the match to just two for the Russian.
“I have wonderful memories. This was my first breakthrough”, said the tennis player, who missed Wimbledon last year due to the ban on athletes from Russia and Belarus. “I was very happy two years ago. Since then I have more confidence in myself in the Grand Slams and I am still happy. The goal is to go even further and I will try to stay focused”, added she.
In the next round, 25-year-old Aryna Sabalenka will face Ekaterina Alexandrova. The Russian tennis player, who is 22nd-seeded, won by 2-0 (6:0, 6:4) against Dalma Galfi (Hungary). Ekaterina Alexandrova defended her title at the WTA 250 Libema Open at the very end of last month.
Former two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova defeated Serbian qualifier Natalija Kostic by 2-0 (6:3, 7:5).
Madison Keys also qualified to the Round of 16 at the Wimbledon. The 25th-seeded American eliminated Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine) after 2-0 (6:4, 6:1).
Roland Garros 2023 semi-finalist Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil), which 13th-seeded, achieved decisive success with 2-0 (6:2, 6:2) against Sorana Cirstea (Romania).
